The Seashore, Perranporth

TheSeashoreBack.jpg

"The Seashore" Perranporth, Cornwall 1947

One of two smaller paintings (Fishing Boats at Sunset) which were bought in their original condition - unframed works with mounts and mountboard backs with tissue paper folded over the front for protection. Though now framed the tissue paper is still in tact and attached.

Fishing Boats at Sunset, Cornish Coast

"Fishing Boats at Sunset" Cornish Coast, 1947

Both paintings measure 135mmx80mm

The Fishing Fleet

"The Fishing Fleet"

This spent some time in Canada but is now residing back in the UK. It measures 210mmx155mm.

Wave-lets, soft swishing to the shore - Perranporth 1943

"Wave-lets, soft swishing to the shore - Perranporth 1943. Presented to Mrs Stayt as a token of regard"

The only example of a dedication that we have come across from Bingley so far. We are not sure whether this was a friend of Bingley or whether the passage on the back was written as requested. Considering the use of the phrase "as a token of regard" it is likely that Bingley knew the recipient. 195mmx120mm.

'Sunset Glow' St. Michael's Mount, Cornwall

'Sunset Glow' St. Michael's Mount, Cornwall

Many thanks to LL for contacting me about this picture and allowing an image to be posted.

The actual visible mounted painting measures 260mm by 120mm high and this is in a frame measuring approx 510mm by 350mm high.

Perranporth, Cornwall

Perranporth Beach, Cornwall

This painting measures 240mm x 90mm. Many thanks to JC for getting in touch and allowing us to use this picture on the site.

From Green to Gold

"From green to gold" - Autumn afternoon on the River Dart, Devon, 1957

A beautiful painting that has been kept out of the light. The owner of this painting bought it from one of Bingley's exhibitions in the 1950s. It was originally priced at 10 guineas. This painting measures 100mm x 170mm. Many thanks to JC for allowing us to use this image.

Perranporth Beach

"Low Tide , Perranporth Beach, 1943 - Watercolour by HHBingley BWS"

This painting measures 300mm x 200mm. Many thanks to DS for allowing us to use this image.

Droskyn Point, Perranporth

"Droskyn Point, Perranporth" Cornwall 1946

This painting measures 200mmx100mm and is a lovely example of Bingley's work. The colours are good and strong; the painting is in excellent condition. Bingley has written the title and his signature in pen on the backboard. Many thanks to GD for allowing us to use this image.

Sunset on the New River, London

"Sunset on the New River" North London.

This painting shows that Bingley was A.B.W.S. The image measures 340mm x 240mm. It is possible that Bingley painted this one prior to leaving London (his home county) for Cornwall. However, his signature is the later of the two of which we have evidence.

Boat

This is one of a pair (other shown below). They were bought in Cornwall from the artist himself. They both measure approx 200mmx390mm. Both pictures were reframed about 10 years ago as the original frames were in a poor condition. Many thanks to AJ for getting in touch and sending images. They are very similar to the painting of Scarborough on the previous page and I suspect it may be of the same area. The signature is also script as in the Scarborough painting.

Boat

One of a pair, painted possibly in Scarborough.

Mary

"Mary"

This is the first example I have come across of HH Bingley copying another painting. The back of the painting show that this is a copy of an original by Sassoferrato which hangs in the National Gallery, London (or did at the time Bingley painted it). It measures 260mmx310mm. Thanks for this fantastic info goes to SR.

"On the North Cornish coast, Newquay District" H H Bingley RMS SM

"Low tide at Perranporth, North Cornwall" By H H Bingley

"A Summers Morning" Incoming tide at Perranporth, North Cornwall. By H H Bingley RMS SM

Paired with the painting above, this also measures 240mmx310mm. Many thanks to SR.

Penhale Point

Penhale Point And "Flat Rocks" at low tide. Perranporth, Cornwall

Watercolour by H.H. Bingley. Many thanks to RA

Moonlitwaters

"Moonlitwaters" Exhibited RMS 1958 Conduit St W1. Miniature Watercolour H H Bingley RMS, The Studio, Perranporth

This is the first time we have come across a night time scene. Its a really lovely little painting - almost monochrome - but there is a definite silver glow to the scene of crabbers sailing near to a harbour entrance.  Its a cloudy stormy night with the moon just breaking through the clouds. Many thanks to LW and AW for the description and photographs.

Mist on the Marshes

"Mist on the Marshes"

A lovely subject, but unfortunately quite foxed.

Polzeath

"Atlantic Breakers, Polzeath"

This is quite an old painting, you can see the old script signature in the bottom right hand corner. It is paired with the other Atlantic Breakers painting below.

Pendeen, Penzance

"Atlantic Breakers, Pendeen" Penzance, Cornwall

DFNewquay.jpg

We're not sure of the title of this painting but it is almost certainly of the North Cornish Coast, Newquay district.
The painting measures 533mmx254mm. Many thanks to DF for this picture.

"Incoming Tide" Arch and Chapel Rock, Perranporth

"Incoming Tide" Arch and Chapel Rock, Perranporth, Cornwall - 1943

A typical tourist scene with clear skies, fluffy white clouds and calm seas. I like the interest in the foreground with the tide lapping gently at the seaweed strewn rocks. Many thanks to J&JW.
